Team TaylorMade have their eyes on the Yellow Jacket

There’s hardly any prize in golf more striking than the yellow jacket the Volvo China Open winner receives and for former winner Haotong Li, he’s looking to get his hands back on the famous garment in front of his home crowd.

“This is a course that Haotong has grown up playing on and he loves the course, this is a huge week for him and you can tell by the way he’s practicing, this is a major for him”

- Adrian Rietveld

Due to the need for high ball flight and carry, Haotong will play a new M6 5 wood with a Diamana DF 80 X shaft tipped 2 inches, this is slightly shorted than standard, but it’s gone straight in the bag this week after working on this club at Augusta.

“The driver spins a little bit more and because of this he’s the type of player that hits it straighter when it does this, so he’s really accurate with this driver”

- Adrian Rietveld

Haotong switched into M6 driver at Augusta National Golf Club and went from 2000 spin to 2300-2400 due to the centre of gravity set a little bit further back and he drove the ball exceptionally.

David Lipsky arrived at Genzon Golf Club off the back of a top five at last week’s Trophée Hassan II and continued to impress by firing an opening round of 65, entering the clubhouse with a share of the lead. Adrian worked with Lipsky dialling in a new M6 3 wood and 5 wood in a Tensei White 80g shaft which went straight in the bag. Next week when the European Tour lands in mainland Europe, the Team TaylorMade Tour truck will make its debut in which Lipsky will test various shaft options for his driver.

Travelling to China is a task in itself and for Adrian, he made the 6,003-mile trip with all the players soft goods, golf balls, drivers, fairways, hybrids and weight kits to be able to service members of Team TaylorMade.

“I did loads of building, there were 3 Chinese technicians that spoke not a word of English, but we were able to communicate in golf club terminology and they really helped me out. There are different types of workshops you get involved with without the tour truck and they were so helpful and have every piece of equipment that I could have asked for. It was great experience.”

Spider X was in high demand this week, Adrian and Patrick Tang (TaylorMade Asia Tour Rep) both had 2 putters with them and they are all in play this week. Romain Langasque picked up his new Spider X in navy and the rest are in the bags of non-contracted players.
